このようなパターンは他にも多数ある。
【解説】
It seems that S ～. → S seems to ～.のパターンを覚える。
形式主語の it で始まる It ～ that S+V …. の複文を単文に変えるパターンを覚えておこう。
複文とは、ＳＶを２組以上含む文である。
単文とは、ＳＶが１組の文である。
It ～ that S+V …. の文は、that 以下の語を主語にして to ～を用いる。

It is said that S ～. → S is said to ～.「Sは～するそうです」
It happens that S ～. → S happens to ～.「Sはたまたま～する」
など。
これにより、節を句に変形できる。
ただし、時制に注意する必要がある。
前後の動詞の時制が違うときには、to have p.p. にする。
前後の動詞の時制が同じときは、to 動詞の原形になる。
It seems that he is ill.
= He seems to be ill.
「彼は（今）病気のようだ」
It seems that he was ill.
= He seems to have been ill.
「彼は（以前）病気だったようだ」
節…２語以上の一まとまり、一つの品詞の働きをする。その中にSVがある。
句…２語以上の一まとまり、一つの品詞の働きをする。その中にSVがない。
従って、節中の SV の関係をなくしてしまえば、節を句に変換できる。
