なぜ最上級なのに the が付かないのか？
【解説】
× This lake is the deepest at this point.
○ This lake is deepest at this point
「この湖はこの地点が一番深い」
同一（人）物の比較では最上級なのに the がつかない。
つまり他のものと比べていない。
最上級でも the が付かないことがあるので注意！
He is happiest when he is sleeping.
He is the happiest of the three.
例えば上の文では、他人と比較せず、彼のことしか言っていない。
下の文では、他人と比べている。
また副詞の最上級には the がつかない。
形容詞の最上級には普通 the がつく。
He runs fastest.（副）
He is the fastest runner.（形）
ただし、アメリカ英語では、どちらの最上級にも the をつけるようになってきている。
