仮定法過去完了の基本形を覚える！
【解説】
He didn’t run, so he couldn’t catch the train.
= He (could)(have) caught the train, if he (had) run.
「彼は走らなかった。だから電車に間に合わなかった」
「もし彼が走っていたら、電車に間に合っていただろう」
仮定法過去（現在の事実に反する）
If …過去形…, …助動詞の過去…. 「（今）～ならば…なのに」
仮定法過去完了（過去の事実に反する）
If … had p.p. …, …助動詞の過去 have p.p. …. 「（あの時）～していたら…していたのに」
いつも if … が前に来るわけではありません。
if …が後に来ることもあります。
「if のところに何が来る」ということを正確に覚えておかないと、混乱しますよ。
仮定法過去と仮定法過去完了の基本的な注意点は２点です。
・事実に反することを述べる。
・時制を一つずらす。
